Charice Cancels Performance in DFF Singapore to Grieve with Family

Our deepest condolences to Charice. We pray for you and your family.
May God give you strength and peace during this trying period.

From abc-cbnnews.com:
MANILA, Philippines - International singing sensation Charice cancelled her upcoming performance in Singapore, as she grieves over the death of her father Ricky Pempengco.

Charice made the statement on her official Twitter account, just after she found out about the murder of her father.

The singer apologized to her fans in Singapore who want to see her perform, but she explained that she needs to go back to Manila to be with her family, who are in mourning.

"I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year," Charice said.

In a related article, abs-cbnnews.com reports:
MANILA, Philippines - Charice's mother Raquel Pempengco burst into tears after she found out that her children's biological father Ricky was killed in a stabbing incident Monday night.

...Ricky was once described by Raquel as a violent husband. She also has a son by Ricky.

Raquel left Ricky years ago, bringing along her kids.

In 2008, a drama about Charice's life was shown on Maalaala Mo Kaya's episode "Ice Cream."

Raquel said she had not communicated with Ricky for a long time.

"Hindi kami nagkausap at wala kaming koneksyon," she said.

Asked if she has already forgiven her husband, Raquel replied: "Matagal ko na siyang napatawad."

"Kung bakit masakit pa din sa akin at kung mayroon pa din bang love para sa kanya, siyempre ama siya ng anak," she added.

Charice's MJ Covers: She Would Have Made the King of Pop Proud

From singaporegp.sg

From PopCrush:
Charice recently performed at the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore, and not only did the Filipina cutie perform her own original songs, she took on some covers from her favorite artists as well. Charice performed her own renditions of songs from Adele, Beyonce, and Michael Jackson for the fans gathered at the Grand Prix in Singapore.

Opening with her song ‘Pyramid,’ Charice belted out the words of the powerful tune that truly launched her into solo stardom. As she finished performing ‘Pyramid,’ Charice took a breather for about two seconds before she kicked it into high gear with a live version of Beyonce’s debut single ‘Crazy in Love.’ The adorable vocal powerhouse danced around stage as she did Beyonce’s track justice and then some.

After she sang ‘Crazy in Love,’ Charice once again took about two seconds to catch her breath (how the heck does she do it?!) before taking on Adele’s fiery breakup hit ‘Rolling in the Deep.’ The band’s segue into the Adele tune was spot-on, and Charice proved that she keep up with the best of them, as she belted out the Adele tune effortlessly and beautifully.

That same night, Charice also paid tribute to the late King of Pop by performing two Michael Jackson songs. She treated fans to energetic covers of ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘The Way You Make Me Feel,’ doing some impressive moves a la MJ. The performances were a fun way to remember Jackson’s musical legacy, and Charice definitely would’ve made the King of Pop proud with her vivacious attitude and pitch-perfect covers.

"Charice Pempengco part of concert series at Singapore Grand Prix"

"Charice undoubtedly will be a superstar on both sides of the Pacific one song at a time"
Charice definitely is busy singing at one-of-a-kind concerts. Crossing the Pacific repeatedly, she caters to her fans in the United States as well as in Asia. From the 9/11 military tribute for a NFL pre-game show to a concert in Tokyo, the schedule for the entertainer usually captures thousands of fans for the moment and it isn't a traditional tour type setting that she performs on. This includes her time at the Singapore Grand Prix concert stage where only the best get asked to sing.

With such a wide vocal range, the young starlet finds herself being asked to many events. Catering to the public, she doesn't turn down too many as she is very popular, especially in Singapore. The first to hear the new album, Asia has fallen in love with the celebrity. The Grand Prix event will include a first listen of her latest songs. With the release of her upcoming album, a live listen of what she plans to bring to the ears of fans around the world makes everyone jealous of those ticket holders in Singapore.

Other celebrities that will be part of the Singapore Grand Prix entertainment include Shakira and Linkin Park. With festivities going on around the car race, the concert will give Charice more exposure in Asia than ever. Slowing building her career, she undoubtedly will be a superstar on both sides of the Pacific one song at a time.
